I never had a better steak in my life like a steak made of Mexican beef. But once travelling around Seattle, Washington had the experience to taste a Steak Salad in a pub, I just can’t forget. I have tried to make it few times since and I still love it. Either serving the steak apart from the salad or having it cut and mixed into the salad it is a simple and great dish.
You only need some steak, salt and pepper, oil, spinach, red onion, and blue cheese to make this meal.
You can marinate the meat before, but good quality beef will taste amazing by sprinkling only salt and pepper on it.
If you don’t have a grill – like me – heat up a pan and warm up a teaspoon of oil. Frying a steak at home will produced lots of smoke, make sure you have your fan on and windows open. Lay the seasoned steak into the frying pan, and have it covered. Fry each side for 4-5 minutes, depending how you like it, raw, medium rare or well done. Turn the meat only once by using a tong.
Place the well washed spinach to a bowl add some blue cheese crumbles and very thinly sliced red onion to it. The spinach can be served on the side of the steak or mixed with the diced steak as a salad. I would leave the onion out if it is going to be a lunch box steak salad.
